Bornholm's admission in the history takes place laconically when shortly before the year 900 the English discovery traveller reports Wulfstan home from the Baltic Sea:
»We had Burgunda country on the port side and this has its own king . «
What kind of king?
Have which of the finds and refuges from the Viking age belonged to him?
How long has this independent kingship existed in Bornholm?
About this one knows nothing.
Within the following 200 years Bornholm gets - a
historical in the background development land despite his archaeological one wealth
until the historian Adam of Bremen at 1075 informs,
»Hulmus is, Denmark, « the best known port now for those heaths which sails to Russia.
In the course of this time Denmark had been reconciled to an empire,
and so also must have become the Bornholmer Danes in this way.
